Getting there
Dec. 15th, 2002 07:45 pmWell, this weekend was long and involved. We finished all of our Christmas shopping though, for which I am beyond grateful. Yesterday we went up to Lancaster and bought several things there to send back to family. I also did some housecleaning, and then we hit dinner. By the end of the day, I thought I'd collapse, but I was up till 5am unable to sleep. Civilization II had -nothing- to do with that. Nothing. Okay, so I wasn't feeling like sleeping, and Civ II just kept me occupied. Yeah, that's the ticket. ;)
Anyhow, today we slept in, thank goodness, then got up and hit the mall, then up to the other mall and multiple stores up in that area. Long story short, the shopping is -done-. Oh, holy moley I'm glad for that.
I'm really trying to get into the Christmas spirit this year, but it's only happening in fits and starts. I'm just so insanely tired that nothing really seems to be firing me up. The songs are nice, and the lights are pretty. I just don't feel all this urge to decorate, bake, or even detour and drag Dean into Christmas stores in the mall. Dean's even offered to get me a different tree this year, but I just don't see a reason to put up a tree. Other people have trees that are gorgous, and a lot less likely to be knocked over by our cats. ;) Maybe it's just the post-shopping blahs, I don' t know. There's one week of work left before the break, and Friday looks like a million years away. If this week is anything like last week, I may well end up gibbering incoherently under my desk. I keep watching all these Scrooge-type movies, and I keep identifying with the Scrooge-figure. But I keep watching the movies, every single one I can find because they just make me happy. I am such a sap!
I need to go hunt up my copy of Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas. Merry Christmas, everyone! Good luck getting ready for your holiday!
