Dec. 19th, 2002

Okay, so I thought this week might be a little quieter with shopping and school done, right? Hee! It's the week of the party! Not that I'm complaining. Parties are far more enjoyable than school or shopping. Last night we all got together to watch the last episode of the TAR. I can't say I was thrilled by the results, but I'm half-thrilled. Half the team who won deserved it more than anyone else in the enter game. The other half of the team should be drowned. Beyond that, it was good to see everyone and snarf goodies. I made an artichoke/spinach appetizer that smelled great and would have gone over far better had it lacked artichokes. Whoops! It didn't dawn on me that artichokes were not universally loved. It's okay though, because [livejournal.com profile] moobabe made the world's most amazing spice cake with this buttercream maple frosting that I do believe I could just live on for the rest of my life. Holy moley, spice cake and hot spiced apple cider? Moobabe, you're my hero!

Before the get-together though, I again hit the post office, this time to send off one final little package and pick up a box from the inlaws. It cracks me up that they sent us ranch style beans for Christmas. (And other stuff, but the beans weren't wrapped, thank goodness.) Granted, we can't get ranch style beans up here, and they're heavenly stuff, but the delivery made me giggle. Then I hit the grocery store to get the artichoke/spinach stuff, then headed home to actually make it. I also finally put up my Christmas lights. Dean walked in, and said he was stunned I hadn't put them outside to annoy the neighbors. Now what's the fun in that? -I- can't see them if they're outside, and I'm not going to go freeze my tookus off by standing on the balcony just to look at my lights. ;) Inside is far cheerier and warmer. Still trying to get in the Christmas spirit, and it's happening...just slowly.

Tonight is another Christmas get-together, and an official party this time. It's my work Christmas party, and thankfully it's right after work, so there's still a chance I can catch the Survivor finale tonight. Yes, I am a reality television whore. Well, not -all- reality television, just those two and American Idol. Anyway, I've got everything I need for the party. I have the gift for my Secret Santa person, and no, [livejournal.com profile] nitav763, I'm not telling you about my wrapping paper either! Nyah! ;) I also have more stuff to make more artichoke/spinach stuff for tonight. I brought the leftovers for people to munch on for breakfast, and they went pretty quick, which is good. I liked it, but there's no way I could eat a whole trayfull myself. Or at least I hope not.

Tomorrow is the last day of work for two weeks, and at 4:30pm, I have an appointment with a massage therapist for an hour. I think my entire week has been focused on just until surviving until 4:30 tomorrow.

Oh, and I just got a gift from my Secret Santa! Dark chocolate covered espresso beans! Zzzzzing! Yay!
