Sense of humor
Jan. 8th, 2003 01:34 pmI like Bernie's Tavern. It's two blocks from my office, has amazing food, homemade soup (crab bisque today, yum!), and the owner and waitresses know when I walk in to automatically bring me an iced tea with no lemon. It's dark, it's small, it's cluttered with eclectic decorations, and I love it.
As much as I love this place, like most places, every now and again the service is -really- slow. Usually it's not the waitresses, who are hyper efficient, but just the kitchen moving slow. So today, I got a spinach and artichoke dip for lunch because it seemed like a veggie and seafood sorta day. Took thirty minutes to get my food, but the owner/head cook brought it out to me with magic words:
"Sorry this took so long. We had to grow the spinach."
Gotta love a place that makes fun of itself. :)
