Losing my mind!
Apr. 15th, 2003 12:56 pmOr did I lose it years ago? I'm never quite sure which it is! Today has been solid craziness though, with a million little fires popping up at work, all needing to be put out all at once. It's just past 10:30am, and I feel like I've put in a full day already! And a full day it's going to be, whew. I've got class tonight, and I desperately need to catch up on my grading and get a test written up. Thankfully, it should be a lighter night workload-wise, with just one chapter to cover and some work on the semester project. I haven't been told I'm teaching over the summer yet. I was really hoping I would, since it would be really helpful financially.
Still, if I don't get to teach, I'm really thinking about taking some classes at UDel. The question remains though...what? I could finish up my B.S. in English, since I'm just a couple classes shy of a technical writing degree. Or, I could start work on my PhD in Instructional Technology. -Or- I could get to work on some masters level English classes, and when I've taken four, I'll be qualified to teach college level English. I can see benefits to each one professionally. With the first, I could actually apply to some publishing houses -- and starve to death as a poor but happy copy editor. I've always intended to work on my PhD, but it just seems like such a massive task, and let me just say the whole idea of a dissertation? -So- not thrilling. The last option would have the most immediate impact, as it would allow me to adjunct English classes at any accredited college or university. Choices! I guess my best bet is to meet with an advisor. Thankfully, my job at DTCC will pay for me to take one class a semester at UDel for free. Yay!
Anyway, I've got the electronic application to grad school all filled out and waiting to hit the 'Submit' button, and all I'm waiting for is one more permission to use someone as a reference. Now I just have to go hunt up my GRE scores. I know I took the GRE. I remember taking it. I also remember walking out of the testing area with my brain turned to jello and dribbling out my ears.
And of course, I have forgotten to tape Buffy again. However, the wonderful and talented
moobabe hath gotten all the rest of the season for me on disk, so I can catch up! Yay! Thank you! I'll just get Dean to download tonight's.
