Star Wars is like instant iced tea?
May. 13th, 2003 08:30 amIt's amazing what nonsense I can come up with when forced to be out of the house and on the road prior to 7AM. The train is not stopping at our normal train station, so we're getting up early and driving up to Wilmington to let Dean catch the train there. The train leaves at 7:10AM, which means we have to leave by 6:40AM. Whee! I was unconscious by 11pm last night, between getting up so early and allergy meds. Stupid trees. Anyway, Dean and I are driving down the road discussing Star Wars, the rotten love scenes in AotC, and how we liked the first three better. Dean likes RotJ the best, and I like New Hope the best. Please, no flames. I know many people consider ESB to be the best. ;)
My rationale for liking New Hope the best was that it was like instant iced tea.
You could hear the crickets chirp.
And then Dean busted up laughing, as well he should. See, the thing is, instant iced tea is a fond childhood memory for me, from lazy California summer afternoons where my grandmother would make it, and we'd watch Bugs Bunny. Likewise, the original movie is one of my favorite childhood memories from when I saw it with my mother. Hence, Star Wars is like instant iced tea. Except at 7:00am, my brain didn't quite see the need to clarify this chain of thought.
Ah, the joys of growing up in the Star Wars generation. ;)
This morning has already been wild and crazy. I made it to work by 7:15am after getting donuts for everyone and more coffee for me, obviously well needed. I have already finished the schedules for the day and handed them out, and then I cleaned the cage for the school's guinea pig, Mr. Joey. Today is his annual vet appointment, to which I take him, so I wanted him to have an extra clean cage for it. Thankfully, this was not nearly as bad as it could have been, since his cage got cleaned on Friday and he also had a bath then. I don't mind in the slightest either, as Mr. Joey is a remarkably sweet critter, and we get along just fine. And now we're off to the vet! Happy Tuesday, folks! Have some instant iced tea and watch Star Wars!
