Because that's the sound one makes on a roller coaster, right? ;)
It's been -crazy- so far since yesterday. I hit the grocery store on the way home, in the middle of a rain storm that made me wonder of I should start building an ark. Then after I pick up Dean, I go to turn my computer on, and after five minutes get a message popping up to the tune of 'NT Authority\System' problem, and there's an overflow in some buffer, and due to an unexpected 'Remote Procedure Control' error, my machine was going to reboot in 60 seconds. Oh, okay, no biggie. I let it reboot. Five minutes later? Wash, rinse, repeat ad infinatum. In the five minute jaunts, I managed to find a reference to it on a tech board, followed a link to Microsoft's patch page, and tried to download what I thought was the right patch. No go. It was almost 6MB, and I can't download that much in 5 minutes. Dean can, but he's having the same problem! Well, that, and his burner doesn't work. toasterwiz and mattcwood to the rescue bigtime. They burned the file I thought I needed onto a disk for me, then rescued me even more when it was realized I was being clueless and had chosen the wrong file. Yay! So big thanks yous, guys, for saving my hide. :) I get home, get the right patch going, and no worries! Whew! This morning I get to work and see this in the news. Ding ding ding! Stupid virus creators. Making me not cook dinner till 9pm, yeesh. Because we all know priorities. Fix computer first, -then- eat. ;)
On a sad note this morning, a very dear, dear woman here at the Center has been diagnosed with cancer again. This time it's breast cancer, and they'll be doing a masectomy and chemo. I can only hope because she's a cancer survivor already, they were monitoring it closely and caught it early. She seems to be handling it all -really- well, but I'll be praying a lot and sending many good thoughts her way.
Nothing new on the job front. I'm still looking though!
