Movin' on up!

All the way up to my new office on the top floor (which is only the 3rd floor, no biggie) of the brand new building on campus where I have a view and I can watch the sun set from my very own office! I don't usually have to answer the main lines, just my own phone if someone calls me directly. I don't have to open doors for anyone. I don't have to listen to shrieking children. I won't be dealing with money usually unless the accountant isn't there.

I'm already in love. Happy sigh!

So what do I do? As far as I can tell so far, it's a lot deeper into the actual academic workings of the college. I'll be doing a lot of research for Allied Health, maintaining personnel files on a lot of people, and generally being the the repository of information for the director. Her comment this morning was to the effect of me being the person with all the information, and her being the person with the vision to use that information. And me? I am -fine- and dandy with that! I can do information and data control, oh yeah. Plus they want me to be learning a lot about the different departments in Allied Health, sitting in on classes, working with the department heads for one-on-one training. I'll be learning to do medical transcription too, of all things, since my boss is the one evaluating people doing practicums in medical transcription and I'll be doing a lot of work with her for that part of her job.

Right now I'm doing my 2.5 hours back at the Center right now. On one hand, it's really great to see the coworkers here, because frankly they're cool people, even if it's a day nitav763 isn't here. ;) On the other hand, I'm looking forward to getting back to an environment where I can relax a little, feel like I'm less in a fish bowl, and a noisy fish bowl at that.
