Not that I ever plan to be, but it seemed like a good thing to announce.

It's been a long, long weekend, but good! Saturday morning my class met at Borders for their scavenger hunt. This was so the best assignment ever! The students totally got into it and did -exactly- what I wanted them to do...have fun at a bookstore. They had twenty-five questions, ranging from 'What's the food on the cover of this month's Cooking Light?' to 'What are the four archetypes in the psychologist Jung's The Four Archetypes.' People got coffee, browsed, and most people spent a good two hours finishing the assignment just because they were enjoying looking around. These are students who would never have dreamed of going to a bookstore just for fun. I had huge warm fuzzies...and a caffeine buzz as I had coffee while I was there.

Then I went home, and my computer had officially gone nuts. I gave in and backed everything up, or so I thought, and reformatted. Unfortunately, it wasn't until I'd nearly finished that I realized I hadn't backed up my email. Woe! Okay, hardly the end of the world. If you've sent me email before Saturday though and you want me to have information? Better send it to me again. Le sigh! Otherwise, the whole process went smoothly, and everything is back to working nice and neat!

Sunday was spent in NY, as [livejournal.com profile] tajnyj said. My ankle went wild by the end of the day, but it's fine now. All I can say is...sushi? Real wasabi? And amazing Indian food? Oh. My. God. Droooool. ::insert Homer Simpsonesque noises here:: So yeah, the diet was blown six ways to neverland yesterday, but it was all worth it. Today was my weigh-in and at least I just held steady. After a week of not being able to work out and a day of mass food glory, I'm happy with that. ;) The show was beatuiful, although the orchestra took a bit to get into the swing of things. My much adored Neil Patrick Harris was adorable as always, of course. I was intrigued how things I thought were hilarious on the CD were straight lines in this show, and things I thought were straight lines or downright creepy on the CD were riotously funny in the show. The seats were small, but it was enjoyable. I do know one thing...New York has too many stairs. And great sushi. ;)

Today I'm down answering phones at our Dental Health Center all day. They're shorthanded, and I got the coin toss as to who mans their front desk. Fine with me! I spent much time scouring out my work email account, reducing my inbox from 150 to 39, and my sent mail folder from nearly 700 to just over 200. I'm keeping sent mail dated 2004, plus I kept all the 9/11/01 stuff and all of the emails about that summer before when Dean was sick. I spent a lot of time with tears in my eyes re-reading all that old email from that time, and it makes me grateful for how he's come through that.

Speaking of which, tomorrow is the man's birthday! Happy birthday tomorrow, [livejournal.com profile] dfeazell! You get to be old -with- me! I'm taking him to Melting Pot tomorrow evening early, and he's getting out of work early. Yaaaay!
Audio not working on the computer. Awwww. Sad Lisa for an hour or so.

Sudden realization to use the drivers CD and install the audio drivers! Ding ding ding!

Doh. ;)
