I don't know if Dean will post this or not, so I will. This morning, my mother-in-law called us to let us know her father, Dean's grandfather, has passed away. Grandpa was 95 years old. He was a quiet man, and I remember most the way he smiled from ear to ear when he saw me in my wedding dress. I don't think anyone made me feel quite so beautiful that day as he did. He liked to whittle, and when the grandkids got to noisy, he'd just turn off his hearing aids. He was a sweet, quiet old man, from what I knew of him, and I was incredibly fond of him. He outlived his wife by nearly a decade, and now he's at rest and with her again. Rest well, Grandpa. I'm glad I had the chance to know you. :)

Well, hell. My brother-in-law gave us a great heaping amount of frequent flyer miles to get Dean home for his grandfather's funeral, and it wasn't enough. Granted, the Continental lady worked her ass off trying to cobble a flight there and back, but there's just -nothing- that qualifies going all the way to Lubbock that doesn't cost nearly twice the miles that my BIL has. I'm sorry, sweetheart, I really, really tried. :(
