Prayers and/or good vibes needed, please
Feb. 9th, 2006 10:08 pmWhen it rains, it pours, I guess. Today we got two big thuds of bad news. First, my oldest cat went in to the vet on Tuesday for his geriatric workup. The results came back today, and he's in kidney failure. The down side is at least 75% of his kidneys have shut down. The good news it, we evidently caught this very early, and hopefully can control it with diet. We went out and bought a refiltering water system for the cats, and we'll start him on a prescription diet tomorrow. But it's hard. Figaro is my baby, and I hate the idea that he's sick.
The bigger blow came just now. My grandmother, who helped raise me, just had her gall bladder removed. They found metastatic cancer up under her diaphragm, but they're not sure what kind it is yet or where it's coming from. They'll do a lot more tests and get her going on chemo. Depending on which cancer it is depends on how easy it is to put into remission. Grandma's only 71, and she's been through a lot over the last few years with taking care of other people she loves. I wish I could be there with her.
So anyway, if you can spare a good thought or prayer for my grandma and my kitty, send 'em on. Here at our house, we've broken out the hot chocolate.
