In the past three days I have conducted 12 concerts. Add to this running musical rehearsals, including two full runs of the musical back to back today (eating up a good chunk of my planning time, although we asked the classroom teachers if we could keep their kids. Brought it on myself, so no griping on that.)
On the up side...my choir sounds phenomenal, and I'm incredibly proud of them. Their worst problem is a bad tendency to rush ahead of the accompaniment. This is not unexpected. Any inexperienced (and heck, some experienced!) singers rush when the adrenalin is going. So the fact that they slowed down and listened at all made me happy!
Now I'm going to spend a nice, quiet (hah!) weekend shopping/wrapping/cards/celebrating Christmas with the immediate family before we all scatter to the winds to visit other family. Then three more concerts to go plus some free choice time for the kids, a holiday party, etc etc and then I'm done with school for a few weeks! Love my job, but whoa. Tired. Need rest badly.
