Oops. Boom.
Jan. 18th, 2007 09:02 pmSo today, due to the ice, the 3rd grade classes were inside rather than in their portables. They got the fine arts classrooms, while we had each grade level in the gym for 30 minutes to run them ragged on an obstacle course. I happily demonstrated the course all day, glad to finally get a workout in after being cooped up. So I'm demonstrating for 2nd grade, fifth class I've done so today. Runrunrun leaplrapleap runrunrun leap leap leap leap...leap. Trip. Boom.
Boom today.
I tripped over a folded up fitness mat, threw my arms out, then landed on my face. They had me turn over and collective gasp...lotsa blood. I gashed open my head right above my right eye. Before long, I realized I couldn't use my left arm, either. The school registrar drove me to the doctor after the school nurse bandaged me up.
Many x-rays later...yup, left arm is busted. Just a hairline fracture above the elbow, but holy cow, pain. They can't cast it easily, so I'm in a sling. I (and Dean, and the nurse who helped) were are highly startled and annoyed the doc only prescribed ibuprofen, but we have some heavier duty stuff at home, which I've taken. Between that, ibuprofen, and ice, it's tolerable. Thankfully, I do not have a concussion! They steristripped the cut closed, and that should be fine. The arm, however, gets to stay slinged for several weeks.
Moral of the day? I am not 20 anymore. Or 30, for that matter. I just keep forgetting that. ;)
Oh, and tomorrow I get new glasses. Those are busted worse than my arm. ;)
