Why I love my school...

As a first year teacher in a specials subject (fine arts/PE), I'm entitled to two half days off campus to train with another school's music teacher. I asked a teacher at a school close to ours, similar demographics and huge population, with a fine-arts program run very much like ours. Plus, she's been teaching forever, and I respect her a lot. She told me to ask my principal for two -full- days rather than half days. I relayed said message to my principal, and she thought it was a great idea, and immediately cleared me for a sub for two full days. *jaw drop*
In other news, rehearsals are going fabulously! I continue to be blown away utterly by the sheer talent of the other women in the cast. It's funny, since a few of them intimidate the hell out of me, even while being vastly nice people. The director is a darling, and has gone out of his way to stop me in passing and say nice things. Not just 'good job', but very specific 'I like the way you did x, you're taking that in a good direction.' I'm pretty sure he does that for everyone, which is such a good thing. Granted, we're only one week into rehearsals, so who knows what's around the bend, but I'd like to work with this guy again.
Oh, and my sister-in-law is ready to pop any day now. Think happy baby-delivery thoughts at her!

Maybe it's because you and Leila keep showing up in my dreams.
