The sun'll come out!

And lo, it has! Yesterday I hauled Dean off to Melting Pot for his birthday.
Happy Birthday,
dfeazell!!! I love you!
Anyway, as I was saying, we went, and were having a lovely dinner until the lights all went out. Huh? (Type 'help' for help) went we! Then peeked outside. Omigosh! The sky is falling, the sky is falling! It continued to rain/lightning/wind its ass off all night long well until dawn. Loudly. Fun stuff!
In other news, yesterday was Field Day at school. The PE teachers put together this massive rabbit run of 'stations' for the kids, each station being a game or an activity or a resting point. Originally, I was to hand out popsicles at a rest station, nice and relaxed. Since I had been tested for strep on Wednesday (finding out I do not have it, thank all the holy little green appples, but not until after school on Thursday), I was told to go to station 12, the sprinklers. It's easy! Just watch the kids run through the sprinklers! Hah. Easy, my ass. It was hundreds of small children on parade diving into the mud pit that the sprinklers had made of the grass within five minutes. The kids were filthy. I was filthy from repeated attempts to turn off water between groups or reposition the sprinklers. I was wet. I was sick. I was tired. The kindergarten groups were running a half hour behind, cutting into our lunch time, and were vastly unthrilled when I informed them we were shortening station times and skipping the Mud Pit of Doom. (No, I take that back. Some were elated to skip the mud pit!) But you know what folks? I am about what's for the kids, and what's best for the kids is the Specials and Speds team not losing 1/2 of their lunch and being grumpy the rest of the day as they run Field Day! Anyhow, one of the teachers I was at the station with was just as mortified at mud-bogged children as I was. The other was delighted. I'm not saying anyone was wrong, because frankly I was happy to see the kids having so danged much fun. But I was angry to the point of tears several times when all I wanted to do was wash my hands/feet, and people kept yanking the hose away from me.
After lunch was 4th/3rd/5th grade. Early on, 4th graders busted every sprinkler we had. Darn. Oh, darn. Lemme repeat. Awww. Awww, yeah!! Except because we were on schedule with the older kids, we had to find something for them to do at that station. I ran in, got my flute and a bunch of music, and we had sing-along for 9 minutes with each passing group. Whew! I went home, and I took a shower. My jeans are in desperate need of the same.
I do not have strep, anyhow. The doctor is still a jerk though. Turns out several teachers have ditched the same guy for him being insensitive and vastly undertreating not only themselves but their children.
What I do have is today off! Woot! I slept in. I had a dream about Spike. I don't remember it, but remember it was cute and fluffy. I am sitting here in my jammies with a cup of tea, listening to my cats play. Everyone else is either gone or asleep. Life is good. :)
