School's out! I finished cleaning my room on Friday, and I'm completely checked out now. Nothing to do! Whee! Of course, Aladdin is still going on. We start hell week tonight, and it's going to be a hellacious week indeed. I fear it deeply, and I have a lot of misgivings, but I also have a deep and strong belief that it's all going to work out and be fine. The kids are doing a great job on stage, and that's the most important thing.
Saturday night was the Alternative Prom, which was a phenomenal experience. The kids were incredibly nice and polite, and it was a joy to watch them be free to be themselves for once with no one judging them or telling them they're unnatural or wrong. They were clearly delighted to be able to exude hormones and know they were safe because there were a ton of adults around to keep them from getting out of line. Not that any one did, because frankly, the worst censure I saw all night was an adult telling a kid not to smoke in the dancing area, but take it out front. The drag show was incredibly fun, not to mention the first I've ever seen. A good time was had by all, and I'm glad I went.
Yesterday Dean and I went to see the DaVinci Code. Holy Moley. I -loved- it. I need to read the book now, honestly. I hadn't read the book before, so I think that may have made it all the better. Squee!! Happy stuff.
Today's been less good, but I can't really go into it. I'm pretty upset just at this moment, but I'm also determined that life will go on, the show will go on, and everything will be good. If I can't see the silver lining, by god, I will make my own!
