Bleary!

Oct. 27th, 2002 11:55 pm
It's been a pretty darned snazzy weekend! Yesterday started with an oil change for the car and a trip to the bank. I said that already. I'm bleary, as the title says, which I'll explain in a bit. So after this, I hit the store for a gift bag, as this had been forgotten, and was needed for [livejournal.com profile] moobabe's present. I found this pretty one that was trapezoidal shaped with watercolory plaid in teal and lavender, which really was pretty. But the best part was the Eiffel Tower teal tissue paper to go inside. Go see Tuck Everlasting at the matinee, or rent it. You'll understand the Eiffel Tower fun. Anyhow, so I go pick up [livejournal.com profile] toasterwiz so we can stuff goodies in the bag, then hie off to snag Moobabe and off we go to Tuck Everlasting. My goodness, what a visually beautiful movie! The scenery is gorgeous, and I loved the music. The plot made me snicker at times, as did some of the acting, but most of the actors were impressive. Sissy Spacek and Victor Garber...well, they just weren't on the screen enough. After the movie, we went back to snag the men as this was not a movie high in testosterone, and we all went to a diner for dinner. This place has a huge menu, with everything from basic salads to Greek and Italian food, or even lobster tails. And something called a Happy Waitress that sparked much amusement. ;) I had an -amazing- salad with shrimp, feta cheese, real black olives, glorious potato salad, red onions, boiled egg, and stuffed grape leaves (everything is not better with lemon, and I could not eat these). This was all piled on iceberg lettuce. Oh, man, talk about heaven. This was the salad of the gods. Screw the oranges in coconut that's supposedly ambrosia. I know better. The gods like feta cheese. I know, because [livejournal.com profile] toasterwiz ate some of mine. ;) It's a cute little diner, though, and the food is danged good. All in all, it was a really cheerful night, and it was good to see everyone and socialize.

Today we drove up to Philly to go to a christening. Dean's boss's baby is an insanely cute little girl, and she was good as gold for the whole ceremony. The church was very pretty, although the multitude of statues of saints was a bit distracting. Then they asked every single saint statue to pray for them. This took a while. I'm not sure -what- the saints are supposed to be praying, but I'm keeping an open mind that it's something good. I can accept what other religions do might be valid, and I need to remind myself that not only is Catholocism as valid as any other religion out there, it's a heck of a lot closer to mine than some of the others I admire, like Buddhism. Amazing relgion that. Then again, I have yet to see a faith that doesn't have at least some aspects that I really like and try to incorporate into my own belief system. Maybe I should go become a Unitarian nun. That exists, right? And I could stay married, yeah? Anyway, the reception had rice pudding, which I have been craving for a week. And the bartender thought I was very odd for wanting tomato juice with nothing else in it, as did several of the people at the table. Is it just me, or is 2pm too -early- for vodka?

So I'm blathering more than normal, and there's a reason. About towards the end of the reception, my back began to feel as if someone had set fire to it, then was trying to put out the fire with dry ice. This was, to say the least, less than pleasant. The 45 minute drive home didn't help, but getting home, getting out of the dress and into sweats, and taking a muscle relaxant helped, mainly because I went to sleep for four hours. Normally I'd sleep a solid eight hours on it, as it lasts that long, but the phone rang a few times, waking me up. So I got up and decided to pester the people online with my drugged ramblings. See! I love you all!

And best of all today? The Angels won!!! Goooo, Angels! Yaaay the home team!! Yay Angels!
