Operation Frisby a Success!
May. 18th, 2003 01:19 pmMrs. Frisby is officially on the lee of the stone! In other words,
toasterwiz and
mattcwood are now in their new home, and it's beautiful! Yaaaaay! I got off work about noon on Friday, then tooled around with them getting ready for the move until 4pm when the truck could be picked up. Dean didn't get off work for a little longer, but we still got a lot of the furniture into the truck anyway. Long story short, we snagged Dean about 6:30pm, and went right back to packing the truck. I think we finished unloading the truck at the new place around 10pm, and then hit Bennigans for dinner. The food was fantastic, our waitress was a sweetie, but we were all so danged tired, we were positively loopy. Dean and I went home and crashed out utterly afterwards.
Saturday I had a retreat to go to for work. It was, um, interesting. Granted, there was some good information, but a lot of it felt like some of the higherups saying, 'tell us what you think, and now let us tell you what's going to happen'. But then, that doesn't really bother or surprise me, as it's just the way it is in an academic environment. Anyway, my boss gave me an absolutely lovely little book called The Everyday Guide to God. I greatly appreciated the gift, but many of you will understand why inside I cracked up laughing a -lot-.
Then it was back to help with the second and final load of moving. We were all moving a little slower, and being well aware that we're a little older than we were in college, but it all got done! Dean and I now have our washer and dryer back and we inherited Matt's desk. All three of these are in the middle of our living room awaiting furniture shifting for them to be settled into place. This is going to be most of what I do today, is overhauling and rearranging the bedroom so I can move the desk in here.
Well, that and I need to tear the bedroom apart looking for my glasses. I -know- I set them on my keyboard last night. I think. I was -so- not awake or alert when we got home, so I honestly have no clue where said glasses are. I'm thinking one of the cats has dragged them under the bed, but I'm not sure. So, now I'm off to get some spring cleaning done and more furniture moved. Everyone think happy thoughts for the newly moved, who still have lots of unpacking to do. And now I'm off to hunt down my glasses. ;)
