Back in the land of the living!
Jan. 12th, 2004 08:51 amWoohoo! I am alive! I'm not back to 100%, but maybe 85-90%, whereas most of last week was well below that. Man, when they say the body aches are an indicator of the flu, they do the idea no justice. The medical industry should be honest. You're going to feel like you've been poisoned and every joint, bone, and muscle in your body is trying to simultaneously liquify or calcify. Also, don't bother with solid food. You'll be soooorreeeee! Now -that's- a warning label! Finally Saturday night it dawned on me I was hungry, and I dragged Dean out to Bennigans and inhaled dinner, which helped immensely. And despite some tossing and turning until about 2am last night, I slept and with the aid of gratuitous iced tea and Dayquil, am actually feeling human. I'm back at work (took Friday off to be dead still, definitely was too soon to go back to work on Thursday) and ready for a full week.
Of course, I have to teach on Wednesday night to a full class in a subject I haven't taught before, but hey, that'll be fun! I'm just hoping my Saturday class isn't canceled. There's space for 18 students, and only 5 have signed up for the class. Hopefully the rest of the sections are full enough they won't cancel the Saturday one.
As for today, it's going slowslowslowslow. The muscle under my left shoulderblade is knotted up and has a stranglehold on the nerves running down my left arm, and all the ibuprofen in the world isn't helping. Hence, the day is crawling by slowly, mostly so far spent looking up instructor information and staring out the window wondering if it's 4pm yet. Oh, but it's nearly noon! Lunch! I do believe there's a green salad with a scoop of egg salad on it downstairs in the cafeteria with my name on it! :)
