Internet! Yes!
Nov. 4th, 2004 10:44 pmSo yesterday we switched from Dish to cable, and it was a beautiful thing...until I realized our cable modem wasn't working. Ack! I called the cable people, and the wonderful old man and his wife (who run the whole deal, -very- small company), and they guy was already back on his way out with the small part he needed to make both work. Yay! So once my net is happily working, off I go to lunch. When I get home from shopping, rather than logging on, I cooked dinner. Then I settled in to gleefully participate in the first Threadfall on the new database. Yay! No net! Aughghghghhg!
What I have discovered is that, dang, I can be productive when I have no internet! I wrote about 5000 words in 2 hours, then played an hour of Sims2 before thudding into bed.
I got my internet back this morning, literally as I was on my way out the door to work. Work was an adventure. One sixteen year old boy was ranting about goths to me. I looked at him deadpan. "What's wrong with goths?" (Me in black skirt, silver shirt, neon red hair up in a Gibson girl, and black eyeliner.) Student: "Aw, miss, you're not a goth! *pause* Are you?" Distinct horror on his part. I'm not, obviously, but man, that was fun. I love exanding their world view a little. Or just flat out horrifying them. ;)
