Laughter does the soul good
Mar. 21st, 2006 10:12 pmGot to rehearsal tonight and finally got to try out my new character-style for my main character in the show. Miss Trimmerback is a public notary, assisting the very efficient Miss Hathaway-esque secretary, Miss Watts. I was playing Trimmerback as street-smart working class Brooklyn girl. The director asked if I could do 'dumb blonde mistress of some bigshot, which is how she got a job'.
The scene is now Miss Hathaway and Marilyn Monroe, essentially. Yes, that's me pretending to be Monroe. Let the guffaws of disbelief ensue. The director even wants me to have falsies. I -howled- at that, by the way, and informed him I wore a 36D, and he still wants falsies? Yup, he does, and was laughing just as hard as me when he said it. Hello, Dolly-ville! ;)
Plus the costume lady (who also plays my mother in one scene) swamped me with a big hug when I got there and made me try on pretty clothing. I love these people. :)
