Life, the universe, and free food!
Aug. 21st, 2006 08:13 pmIn order of events:
School started! I love the new schedule, which involves both morning and afternoon duty, but not lunch duty. Also, my planning time and lunch time run together, which is lovely. The kindergarteners are adorable, if remarkably small. The school had a power flicker the first day of school while Kinder was in specials. One small boy teleported (I swear! He must have!) into my lap at this occurrence, and looked up at me very solemnly and explained in very clear, calm words, "I'm scared." I did not laugh. It was a near thing, though.
Merry Wives of Windsor is now over. Part of me is mildly sad, but the rest of me is, "Oh, thank goodness!" It was a wonderful experience, but I'm exhausted. I got a lot of good contacts though, and some great information about training and agencies involved in getting people voiceover work. If I manage to get a few jobs? Fabulous! My life-long pipe dream! If not? Enh, not so bad! I love my job, and I'm very content. So it's good all around! I'm laying off theatre until at least February, though, although I might do a 'reader's theatre' which only involves 1-2 rehearsals and a performance or two. Short term thingie, very happy.
And free food! Oh, free food joy! I offered to buy food for the family tonight. Eric and I wanted Chipotle, while the rest of the family was for Whataburger. I go to Chipotle first, but lo, they are out of steak. They give me a free drink while I wait patiently for more to cook, and I was happy! All good! About 10 minutes later, the fresh steak was done (yum!), and they make our burritos. I go to pay, and the guy at the register pushes my debit card away, and informs me I've already paid by waiting patiently and being so nice. I melted, yes indeed. That's a soda and two burritos, free for just being nice to people. Then at Whataburger, I got shakes for various family members. They made two vanilla and one chocolate, although I ordered two chocolate and one vanilla. They made me an extra chocolate, and said to keep the two vanillas anyway! Free food! Woot!
Tomorrow I get to spend the day telling my students stories. Then I get to go home and take a nap. Life rocks. :)
