As in big long metal spikey nails that embed themselves in the rear tires of my poor station wagon. Ugh.

I took off at 10am yesterday with some nastybad joint issues, but still had to go take the wagon in to get the oil changed at 5pm. They also did some factory recall work on the ignition, which resulted in me getting new spark plugs. Yay! But...while they had the car up on the lift, they noticed nails in both my rear tires located in the sides rather than the bottom where they could just be repaired. Saturn ever so graciously offered to replace said tires...for $210.

Uh-huh. Thanks, I love you, Saturn, but I'm off to price shop. And so I did, and lo, Pep Boys did offer me lovely tires with a 70K mile warranty for $50 a pop plus a bit for labor. Bingo! I went in first thing this morning, had them both changed by a very nice young man, and was back at work before 10:30am. I'll say this for car repairs...it sure gives one time to crochet.

Work is still stressful, but that's no surprise by now. I'm really starting to feel bad for Ruth. Logically, I know the poor woman isn't the one who decided on all these nasty cutbacks. She's just the one delivering them, and that's not her fault. Worse, today she has to go up to Philly because her daughter's in the hospital. One of the things I like about Ruth is she's open with her feelings, but also controlled. That's also a bad thing in that when she's under extreme stress, she all but radiates bad feelings. Call me a whacko, but I think that kind of negative energy spreads to other people. Again, not her fault, but it doesn't make the working atmosphere any easier. I'll be glad when she leaves for the day, for all that I wish it were under happier circumstances.
